I have never seen the reason for this behavior of losing the opposite faction. I have to do both sides of the red blue line and I have studiously avoided gaining faction of the opposite type because of this 'silly' rule. This lovely update where I got reams of both Kurzick (which is my guild alignment) and almost the equivalent Luxon, I was forced to waste chunks spending the faction, which I found quite distressing. I used some Luxon to get to r1 on the Luxon title, but losing Kurzick there was really horrible. I do not mind being snubbed by the other side when there is a balance issue or having the Kurzick call me a traitor to the cause, except there are times when I need Luxon (in the case I am buying Luxon Armor because I think it looks good.)

I don't see anything wrong with being able to adapt your playstyle to the system at hand. Plus it fits the storyline in a sense.

I am sorry this was back payed faction not free faction, I earned it according to the silly rules not at the same time but I had to spend it at the same time. So I lost over 100K Luxon faction because of a silly rule, which serves no real purpose at all other than to irritate.

I can agree that is irritating but is like this due to lore. If you support one side in a war you lose what you gained by supporting the other. There is some logic behind it. There would be no issue if there were no titles....

With the old reward system you DIDN'T earn it as it wasn't there in the first place. People need to stop feeling victimised over this, it's getting boring

We were all given FREE faction on account of play history,none of us earned it.

The whole Luxon Kurzic thing was an attempt to get to combine some pvp elements into the pve storyline and it didn't quite work.

Either the game should open up completely when you finish the storyline or one of the territories becomes locked to that character depending on his side in the war.
Trying to both was just silly so once I got what I wanted from Factions I lost interest in most of that game.

If they ever try it again I hope they get it right.

They do it for a reason... if you're in a luxon guild for instance, and you go through the storyline, you'll inevitable get kurz faction just by doing the required missions (even if you don't follow the kurz side of the story) So if you donate your luxon faction, suddenly you have more kurz faction and the luxons won't speak to you. And it'll only be like 400 faction, so you either have to go grind kurz faction and buy amber or something, or keep dealing with the annoyance of not being able to speak to luxon npc's (including priests for bounties) until you somehow lose the kurz faction. I'm not saying there's not ways around it, there obviously is (ie get extra faction so you'll never go below how much kurz you have) But this is probably what they considered when they did that. And hey, I lost a ton of faction too, I was pretty annoyed. But really, they're not gonna go back and change it so there's no point in complaining.

Just be happy you got free faction and from now on just work on one title at a time.... its not like its that hard to get 3/5k faction to spend...

Btw, I am someone who plays both sides for different games and with different people, and it really doesnt bother me or affect me much at all...

I guess I know why I don't come here often, either sign or don't sign. I am not whining, I am asking for a game change highlighting why I think it is stupid. Its like some of the other stupid things in GW that we make use of. Like don't finish this quest because it is worth more to you if you don't. I could care less for the gainsayers that seem to frequent this forum. The ones that always cry whiner when somebody says something they do not agree with.

I agree with the OP, Anet made an effort so these titles get maxed easily by players. While the effort and the update was good they still left this stupid "rule" in place which imo in these past 3 days guildies had to leave guild, donate and get an invite back. It works this way yes but its highly annoying.

I agree as well. The update was good, but having to lose all that faction was annoying. Generally, I work on one side, then do the other so there is no loss. Too bad they couldn't have done something like that. But it's done now.

Faction exists for a reason, and the high cap on the title does too. Players were never meant to max BOTH of these titles. That's another hallmark of the Kurzick/Luxon split. You pick one or the other. You cannot have your delicious cake and eat it too.

Now, I HAVE seen people who maxed both the titles. Good for them, they amassed twenty MILLION faction the hard way, before the update that gives you faction for basically pissing in the forest or the sea.

There's a reason this game is called FACTIONS. You shouldn't be able to play both sides of the fence so easily. That's just how it works.

Maybe it is stupid that we got all our backpaid faction at once, from both Kurzick AND Luxon. I'll admit that was stupid but the rule shouldn't be changed just because you lost what, 100k faction? With the new update you can earn that back in a day. QQ less, please.

There are many things in the game that may admit discussion, most of them.
But others do not.
Having to choose a side in Factions is not something that can be debated.

Yeah, it was a shame losing all that free faction we got that all new player will be able to enjoy, but now what's done it's done.

Choose a side, use all the points, then choose again.

QQ over losing the faction you got when you logged in after the update, from the pve missions. But in general I see no reason why you shouldnt lose your faction if you spend it on the other side. It actually kinda makes sense.

You belong to one side or the other. That's the storyline. You chose a faction to support when you donated. Word gets around that you donated to the kurzicks, so you lost luxon. Boo hoo. You can't have both, that's the way it is. When you played the game before the update, you didn't do it knowing you were going to gain faction just for playing missions. What you got after the update was FREE.

And stop whining about reasonable arguments against you from the guru forums. If you don't want to be disagreed with, leave. You post a suggestion, you're going to get opposing arguments. Stop QQ'ing that people aren't agreeing with you en masse.
